Scalloped valances provide interest close to eye level and an excellent edge for showing off trims. Scallops can be easily adapted to many proportions. Here, the curving shape is wide and not very tall. On a drapery for a vaulted dining room, the valance portion would be much taller. Possibly, the scalloped edge would be complex.

Box pleats can be added to scalloped valances to create divisions, depth, and to show off contrasting fabrics.
